Do you know how a first visit to the chiropractor takes place? What exactly is spinal decompression? What are the main reasons for consultation? Here are some important questions that Dr. Louis-Pierre Brunel, chiropractor, answers. If some questions persist, do not hesitate to contact us.
THE FIRST APPOINTMENTS
During your 1st visit to our Chiropractic clinic (commonly called chiro), you will have to fill out a questionnaire, which will allow us to draw up a portrait of your state of health, and will guide us in the examinations of your posture, body palpations and orthopedic and neurological tests. This will help us determine if x-rays are needed to make the correct diagnosis and see how much damage there might be to your spine (osteoarthritis).
And on the 2nd visit?
After identifying your health problems and establishing a treatment protocol to improve your condition, we are ready to present it to you, thanks to a complete report: why do you feel pain? Why is your health affected? And what can your chiropractor do to help you? We will answer all your questions: what treatment techniques will we use? How long will it take, what will be the cost? It is from this information that you will be able to make the best decision for you!
REASONS FOR CONSULTATION
Several studies have shown that the main source of vertebral pain comes from the level of the disc and the other painlike facet or muscle, are collateral pain due to the disc.
Old traumas, accumulating micro-injuries and the weight of the years are factors that promote dehydration of the disc as well as its malnutrition. Over time, these factors lead to early disc degeneration.
Chiropractic is particularly effective for:
• Back pain
• Neck pain
• Numbness of the arm or hand
• Numbness in the leg or foot
• Migraines and headaches
• Chest/back pain
• and many others…
Our goal is to help you feel better, but the most important thing for us is to treat the cause of your pain.
A MEDICAL BREAKTHROUGH
The basics of spinal decompression were developed by a Canadian physician, Dr. Allen Dyer. It was not Dr. Dyer's first breakthrough in the design of life-changing devices since he was part of the team of researchers who developed the cardiac defibrillator.
Suffering himself from a herniated disc in the lower back, Dr. Dyer set about designing a device that would target the elements involved in the process of disc degeneration. He won his bet since the first neurovertebral decompression device was born in the late 1990s.
Being very aware of the mechanisms of disc degeneration and osteoarthritis, it is rather chiropractors who have adopted this technology and incorporated it into their practice.
A specific field of intervention
Solutions Discales clinics have chosen to limit their therapeutic approach exclusively to conditions related to disc degeneration. These conditions include herniated discs, narrowed discs, pain in the legs (sciatica) or arms, facet syndrome as well as spinal osteoarthritis, both in the lower back and in the neck.
Consequently, the initial meeting aims to determine if your problems are of disc origin and to make an adequate diagnosis.
Promote accessibility to a professional
As we have heard for too many years now, the health care system is currently excessively overcrowded. Meeting a specialist doctor can take months and sometimes years… we are not talking about treatments yet.
When the problem that affects us comes from a spinal degenerative condition, waiting is not the best solution. Indeed, the characteristics of degeneration is that it is progressive and evolving. It is therefore important to act quickly to stabilize the situation before it deteriorates further.
Faced with this eality, Solutions Discales has implemented measures to promote access to a health care professional qualified to diagnose vertebral problems and to advise you on the best options of care… whether offered at Solutions Discales or elsewhere. This is the Secondos© Program.
This program allows you to get a second opinion about your back or neck pain. You will benefit from a consultation and an exhaustive examination of your spine by an experienced chiropractor, at no cost and without obligation on your part. The only fees you will have to pay are those for x-rays if they prove necessary.
